Table 4 Correlation analysis

From: Concentrations of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone in serum and cerebrospinal fluid of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage correlate weakly with transcranial Doppler flow velocities

Estradiol

In serum

Rho = 0.10

p = 0.08

In CSF

Rho = 0.15

p = 0.01

Progesterone

In serum

Rho = -0.05

p = 0.39

In CSF

Rho = 0.07

p = 0.25

Testosterone

In serum

Rho = 0.15

p = 0.01

In CSF

Rho = 0.06

p = 0.34

  1. Spearman rank correlation analysis of concentrations of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone in serum and CSF with transcranial Doppler velocities demonstrated very weak correlations. An absolute value of the correlation coefficient (rho) of 0.00–0.19 indicates a very weak correlation, 0.20–0.39 a weak correlation, 0.40–0.59 a moderate correlation, 0.60–0.79 a strong correlation and a value of 0.80–1.0 a very strong correlation
  2. CSF cerebrospinal fluid
