From: Characterisation of Zika virus infection in primary human astrocytes
ZIKV induces the production of cytokines/chemokines in infected HBCAs. Levels of 30 cytokines, chemokines and growth factors in supernatants from ZIKV-infected HBCAs were measured using the Cytokine Human Magnetic 30-Plex Panel for the Luminex platform at 1, 2, and 4 days p.i. Uninfected or mock-infected HBCAs (infected with UV-inactivated virus) were used as controls. Significant differences in the cytokine/chemokine production were observed in case of CXCL-10/IP-10 (a), CCL2/MCP-1 (b), CCL5/RANTES (c), IL-6 (d), IL-8 (e), and IL-12 (f). Data were obtained after measurements from three replicates and are expressed as mean ± SEM and were analysed using two-way ANOVA (GraphPad Prism 5.04). *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001; ****p < 0.0001
