Hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) sections stained for Sox2 (red), DCX (green), and DAPI (blue) are shown. The number of Sox2- (b) and DCX-immunopositive cells (c) was significantly lower in the lesion and probe-stimulation groups than in the normal group. However, the numbers of Sox2- and DCX-immunopositive cells were elevated in the pre- and training-stimulation groups (values represent the mean ± SEM, p < 0.05)
