Energy Intake, body and tissue weights. Eight to ten week-old male Long-Evans rats were fed diets either low in fat (light bars, n = 10) or high in fat (dark bars, n = 10) for 72 h. Food intake in grams (a), kilocalories (b), as well as body weight (c) were measured daily following 24 h (1 day), 48 h (2 days), and 72 h (3 days) on the diet. Statistics were performed using two-way ANOVA with post hoc Tukey’s HSD and Levene’s test for equality of variances. A p value of p < 0.05 is denoted by asterisk and a p value of p < 0.01 is denoted by double asterisk.
