Stimulatory effect of NGEN on the activity of K M channels recorded from NSC-34 cells. In (A), cells were bathed in Ca2+-free Tyrode’s solution which contained iberiotoxin (200 nM), apamin (200 nM) and tetrodotoxin (1 μM). Cell-attached configuration was made as the cell attached was held at 0 mV relative to the bath. Channel activity was obtained in the control (left) and after addition of NGEN (10 μM) to the bath. Portion of tracing in the upper part of (A) is amplified in the lower part. Channel openings give a downward deflection in current. (B) Summary of the data showing effects of NGEN and flupirtine (Flu) on KM-channel activity in NSC-34 cells (mean ± SEM; n = 9-12 for each bar). *Significantly different from control.
