Inter-limb phase differences between hand and foot movements. Inter-limb phase differences obtained in different loading conditions, as indicated by labels, and in the two association directions (A isodirectional; B antidirectional). Positive values on ordinate indicate foot delays, negative values indicate hand delays. When both limbs were unloaded (black squares) the hand lagged the foot by a mean value of 13.5° during iso- and 2.7° during antidirectonal association. Loading the hand increased the mean hand-foot lag and made it dependent on frequency (blue diamonds). Reciprocal changes occurred after loading the foot (red diamonds).
