Lack of an effect of 17β-estradiol on Bcl-2 and Bax protein levels in HT22 cells treated with 7–8 mM glutamate for 8 h. Western blots are shown on the upper right hand corner and the bars depict densitometry analysis. Note that the glutamate-induced changes in Bcl-2 and Bax are not reversed by 17β-estradiol in the presence of glutamate. a = P < 0.05 vs untreated control.
