Effect of genotype on startle response after a pre-pulse tone. Per2−/− animals had decreased startle response compared to WT mice, but only when the initial pre-pulse is more distinct from the second tone (64/120 and 64/110 dB). There was no effect when the two tones were more similar (i.e. 82/120 and 82/110). *p < 0.05 WT compared to the Per2−/− counterpart. (n = 16 animals per group)
