Cells were exposed to various concentrations of ouabain and incubated for 2, 4, 8, or 24 h. The morphological changes of HCN-2 cells were observed using an inverted microscope and photographed at 200 × magnification (a). The viability of HCN-2 cells treated with ouabain was measured by MTT assay. Survival rate analysis from the various concentrations (3, 5, 10, and 30 mM) and exposure times (2, 4, 8, and 24 h) of ouabain revealed the ideal toxic conditions for HCN-2 cells to be a 4 h exposure with 5 mM ouabain. Every assay was performed three times, and the results are expressed as the mean ± SD (b)
