Time dependent loss of TH- and NeuN-positive cell populations in the SNpc following 6-OHDA, a experimental design. Mice receive 6-OHDA or ascorbic acid (vehicle control) injection. Tissue was collected after 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks in order to assess lesion development over time. Representative images of TH (b) and NeuN (d) positive neurons in the SNpc over time. Stereological quantification of the ipsilateral SNpc resulted in significant and progressive loss of TH (c) and NeuN (e) positive neuron counts following unilateral 6-OHDA injection.
