Preclinical smoking model in mouse. 8 (4 + 4) C57BL/6J mice are exposed (via direct inhalation) to side stream smoke generated from 3R4F research cigarettes (also compatible to automatic e-cigarettes). Tobacco smoke (TS) was generated and forced directly into two airtight smoking chambers (Dimension—24L × 12 W × 12H) housing the mice (4 mice/cage) by single channel cigarette smoking machine. The smoking inlet is dually connected to a feeding tube (0.188 in. ID; length-smoking machine to cage-30 cm, Oxygen cylinder to cage-150 cm) and a ventilator systems supplying O2 (2 L/min) at atmospheric levels (1 bar). During the interval between puffs, animals receive uninterrupted supply of normal oxygenated air
