Schematics outlining the experimental design. The larval zebrafish were treated with various acute stressors (Heat stimulus, cold stimulus, UV light, social isolation and mechanical disturbance) for 5 min. After 5-min stressor treatment, larval zebrafish were transferred from the dish to the light/dark test apparatus for light/dark preference behavioral assay and recorded for 8 min, or collected with ice-cold phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and transferred to collection tubes on dry ice for cortisol assay
