Comparison with tissue miRNA profiles suggests origins for specific serum miRNAs. Pooled miRNAs purified from tissues of 3 male P35 normal rats were compared to expression levels measured in whole brain hemispheres. Rattus norgvegicus expression levels for specific miRNAs belonging to Tiers A, B and C were clustered to determine microRNAs which are enriched in the brain compared to 14 other tissues. For relative comparisons, the levels of these miRNAs in the serum are also shown, and the number of base differences between the rat and human miRNA sequences are shown for both the fully mature and stem-loop forms
