The red arrow, labelled “Alcohol”, symbolises the introduction of alcohol to the model Purkinje cell. A progressing alcohol block of Na+/K+ pumps is symbolised by the negatively orientated red arrow, labelled “Sodium-Potassium Pump Activity”. The model progresses through activity states: Quiescent, Bimodal, Tonic and Depolarisation Block. Only the onset of a depolarisation block can be observed because the simulation terminates at 90 seconds (because of issues with the computational expense of the model; refer Results).
