Spontaneous activity in PNC cells depends on a sodium conductance. In control solution (A) this cell showed regular firing pattern with depolarizing inward currents preceding each action potential. When 1 μM TTX was added to the bath the firing rate dropped at the beginning of TTX application (B). In the presence of TTX, both action potentials and depolarizing inward currents completely disappeared 5 min later (C).
