The y-axis represents the mean angular deviation (degrees) from an orientation parallel to the longitudinal axis of the corpus callosum (a mean deviation of 0º indicates parallel neurite growth; a mean deviation of 90º indicates perpendicular neurite growth). The mean deviation of neurites extending on fixed corpus callosum was significantly greater than that of neurites extending on unfixed corpus callosum, indicating that the former were significantly less parallel in their orientation. Bars indicate mean + SEM (*p < 0.0001).
