MTS assay showing effect of hypoxia on the viability of RGCs. Cells (1 × 10⁴) were cultured in 48-well plate containing DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS. 24 h later, cells were washed and treated with variable concentrations of cobalt chloride (A; black bars 50, 100, 200 or 400 μM) or exposed to 1% O₂ (B; black bar) for a period of 24, 48 or 72 h.
