EGFP/connexin 36 neurons are intermixed with neuropeptide or tyrosine hydroxylase positive cells in hypothalamic nuclei. EGFP/connexin 36 (green) was not colocalized with oxytocin (A; red), vasopressin (B; red) or tyrosine hydroxylase (C; red) neurons in the PVN. Although EGFP/connexin 36 expression (green) was seen in the lateral hypothalamus and in the tuberomammillary nucleus, no colocalization between EGFP and prepro-orexin (D; red) or between EGFP and histidine decarboxylase (E; red) was observed.
