Expression of WldS protein and mRNA in non-neuronal tissue. A - Representative examples of bands obtained with quantitative fluorescent western blots from wild-type and WldSmouse liver, spleen and cerebellum probed with antibodies against WldS protein (Wld-18) and beta-actin (loading control). B - WldS protein levels in organs from WldSmice expressed as fold change in protein relative to wild-type tissue. Note that all organs except for the liver showed significant levels of WldS protein, but none to the same magnitude as found in the cerebellum. C - WldSRNA levels in organs from WldSmice shown as relative expression normalised to wild-type. Note that RNA levels did not always match protein expression levels (c.f. Panel A). A minimum of 3 mice per genotype were used for all experiments.
